Dick Vitale names his No. 1 team ahead of the season

This should come as no surprise.

The college basketball season is right around the corner and everyone is making their predictions for who will be the top team in the country. Many people have Michigan State because the Spartans brought back a potential top-10 pick in Miles Bridges while adding a top recruit in Jaren Jackson Jr. as well as key role players. However, Dick Vitale believes the super talented —- at least on paper —- Duke Blue Devils are the team to beat.

They do bring back Grayson Allen as well as a former five-star recruit in center Marques Bolden. They also bring in a bevy of other five-star recruits in Gary Trent Jr., Marvin Bagley, Trevon Duval and Wendell Carter. They should have the right mix of talented youngsters with enough veteran leadership to get them through any tough stretches in the schedule and in the postseason.

North Carolina, Kentucky, USC, Florida, Arizona and Kansas are all other schools expected to go deep into March Madness as well. None of those schools have that same mix of talent and leadership though. Kentucky certainly has the talent, but the Wildcats will be one of the youngest teams in college basketball while those other schools don't quite have the same talent.
