His name may be Vanderbilt, but this five-star won’t be going to Nashville. He won’t be that far away from there, however.

On Friday, five-star recruit and the nation’s No. 6 small forward Jarred Vanderbilt (6-foot-8, 213 pounds, Bellaire, Tex.) became the latest top basketball recruit to commit to John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats.

Vanderbilt was also considering North Carolina, TCU, and Oregon.

Scouts love Vanderbilt for his overall game. He’s obviously a force to be reckoned with as a 6-foot-8 athletic forward, but he’s also shown skill in the rebounding and passing games. Vanderbilt has a decent dribble game, and he’s not afraid to bring the ball up the court and become a play-maker on the break.

Vanderbilt is the fifth commitment for Kentucky’s 2017 recruiting class. All five of those commits rank in the 247Sports Top 50 overall.
