Former Kentucky basketball player reportedly getting interest from the NFL

His impressive physical tools are getting noticed.

Dominique Hawkins averaged less than five points per game last season for John Calipari at Kentucky, and the 6'1 guard likely won't be drafted in June.

However, if Hawkins doesn't make an NBA roster or doesn't want to play professionally in Europe, he could have another option to make it to the pros.

According to Kentucky.com, Hawkins has garnered some interest from NFL teams after his impressive performance at a Kentucky NBA Combine. Hawkins registered a 44.5-inch vertical jump, which would've been the best jump at the NFL Combine.

Hawkins has received some interest about playing defensive back in the NFL. He has good size for a DB in the NFL, and his impressive athletic ability will certainly interest some teams.

Hawkins was an elite perimeter defender at Kentucky. He was Mr. Basketball in the state of Kentucky in high school.

While he didn't put up great offensive numbers at Kentucky, he might be able to find a team as an unrestricted free agent or in Europe. But if Hawkins decides neither option is best for him, he could have a future in the NFL despite not playing college football.
