2017's top center announced his commitment date and several top programs are very interested

Some of the country's top programs will have an eye on one particular date for the nation's top center prospect

When we last heard from the top center in the Class of 2017, Cesar Ruiz, the talented offensive lineman was slashing his list of college choices down to eight of the top programs in the country. Now, we know exactly when Ruiz will be making his final decision, as he took to Twitter to provide everyone with a firm date of his commitment.

At this juncture, Michigan appears to be the front-runner to land the 6-foot-3, 315-pound center from IMG Academy in Florida, though the Wolverines are far from the only team involved. Programs like Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Texas A&M and Ole Miss are believed to be in the mix as of September, and Ruiz will be taking official visits to Ann Arbor, Chapel Hill, College Station and Norman in the coming days.

It isn't often that centers garner the type of attention that Ruiz commands, but he is a consensus top-75 prospect in the country when it comes to the 2017 class, and there is plenty of room for growth. College teams are becoming keen on the fact that a dominant center can change the course of a team's offensive line for the better, and in Cesar Ruiz, that is exactly what looks to be in the cards for the future.
