What a Christmas present.

Gus Malzahn and the Auburn Tigers received an unexpected Christmas present when three-star defensive lineman Alec Jackson committed to the university Sunday afternoon.

Jackson, a 6'5, 270-pound defensive lineman from Jefferson Davis High School in Montgomery, Alabama, chose Auburn over Alabama, Texas and several other elite programs.

Jackson is the N0. 23 ranked defensive tackle in the 2017 class according to 247Sports. He had USC listed as his top school only three weeks ago, but he told AuburnUndercover.com he felt good about his decision.

"I prayed to make sure I was making the right choice," Jackson said. "Right after, I felt good about my decision."

Fellow 2017 commit Calvin Ashley was also enthusiastic about Jackson's decision:

Auburn now has 19 commitments for this class, and they are ranked No. 10 by 247Sports. AuburnUndercover expects Jackson to take an official visit to Auburn in January.
