Clemson lost defensive back Kaleb Chalmers all the way back in March because he was kicked off the team by coach Dabo Swinney. He was charged with simple drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a schedule II controlled substance.

The Greenwood, S.C. native is now heading back to the state after spending a year in the JUCO ranks at Northwest Mississippi Community College. However, he’s not going to be a Tiger, but will join rival South Carolina and will be eligible to play immediately.

Northwest Mississippi C.C. defensive back Kaleb Chalmers committed to South Carolina over Ole Miss, according to sources. The 5-foot-11, 185 pounder plans to arrive in Columbia next month, allowing him to participate in winter workouts and spring practice.

Chalmers is rated as the No. 15 cornerback in the JUCO class and was the No. 9 player in the state coming out of high school.
