Four-star DT Darnell Jeffries makes commitment to major title contender

He just made this class even deeper.

Darnell Jeffries is a four-star defensive tackle in the class of 2018 and he just gave one ACC power some serious depth at a position of need. The 6'3", 275-pound tackle made his verbal commitment official via his Twitter account:

He thanked all of his high school coaches as well as some other coaches that were recruiting him like Nick Saban, Kirby Smart, Jeremy Pruitt and others. He decided to commit now so he can focus on his senior year for Newton High School in Covington, Ga. and he topped off his message with "I AM EXCITED AND RELIEVED TO ANNOUNCE THAT I AM FULLY COMMITTED TO CLEMSON UNIVERSITY."

Jeffries is the No. 27 DT in the country and No. 44 recruit in the state of Georgia according to ESPN. He also told 247Sports that he FaceTimed with coach Dabo Swinney while the team was at the White House to celebrate their national title. The big man was offered a scholarship back in March and was on campus three out of five weekends at one point this spring. So it should come as no surprise that he ended up a Tiger as he seemed to enjoy his time on campus each time and obviously wanted to keep coming back.

He also held offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida and Georgia as well as several others in the SEC and outside of it.

Here's some of his highlights:
