Kirk Herbstreit makes big prediction about Dabo Swinney's future with Clemson

Some fans are probably going to like hearing this.

The rumors have been around for a few years that Nick Saban is getting ready to retire and at age 65 you would think he is fairly close now. However, every year he inevitably has to put those rumors to bed and say that he is as ready to coach as he was the previous year. But he will have to retire at some point and so that will leave Alabama fans wondering who replaces the great Saban.

College football analyst Kirk Herbstreit took some questions on the good old Twitter machine and of course the question of Saban's replacement came up.

Herbstreit answered the question pretty candidly and it would make sense if Swinney ended up in Tuscaloosa. He played as a walk-on there and worked as a graduate assistant under Mike DuBose and was fired with the rest of the staff in 2001. He then went on to coach and become a recruiting coordinator under Tommy Bowden at Clemson. The rest is history as they say. Knowing that background information, that might make Herbstreit's answer clearer:

He did bring the program from the brink of ruin to win 10 or more games in six straight seasons from 2011 to this past season. Of course, that includes two national title appearances with a win this year against his alma mater Alabama.
