Charles Barkley throws shade at Florida State, Jimbo Fisher responds

Jimbo vs. Chuck is on!

Charles Barkley has never been one to shy away from making bombastic comments, but he might have picked the wrong enemy with the recent comments he made about Florida State on the Russillo & Kanell radio show.

"They play in a s**t conference," Barkley bluntly stated about the Seminoles and the ACC. "They only have one hard game a year and that's Clemson."

Well that's one way to put it.

The comments came after Barkley stated that the SEC was far and away the best conference in football. The show's co-host and former Florida State quarterback Danny Kanell took some exception to that remark, which then sparked Barkley throwing the entire ACC under the bus.

Luckily for us, Jimbo Fisher was on the show yesterday, and gave us a response to the comments.

"I spent 13 years in the SEC, 10 years in the ACC," said Fisher. "There's not as big a difference as everybody makes it out."

Considering that Florida State won a national title a few years ago by defeating then-SEC champion Auburn, it is safe to say that Fisher has some backup when he makes these comments. He didn't stop there, though, as he willing took the buck back to Barkley by commenting about the NBA Hall of Famer's career at Auburn in the 80s.

"Now Charles, they didn't say that about you when you played basketball in the SEC now, dagummit."

Shots fired! Although Fisher did offer an olive branch to Barkley before the show moved on to a different topic.

"I love Charles, now. ... I have a lot of respect for him."

You can hear Fisher's full response on the ESPN Radio replay. The interview starts about 41 minutes in to the stream.
