The Everett Golson saga looks like it’s coming to an end soon. Golson, a graduate transfer from Notre Dame, has been touring the southeast to figure out which school he will play for this upcoming season. He has visited Florida, Georgia and Florida State with Alabama reportedly showing interest.
Golson, who will graduate from Notre Dame on Saturday, is expected to make an official decision on Monday. According to Tom D’Angelo of the Palm Beach Post, Golson is expected to choose Florida State.
Head coach Jimbo Fisher said earlier in the week that he and Golson were “negotiating.” As a graduate transfer, Golson is eligible to play immediately. If he does in fact choose FSU, this tells me one thing, Fisher is not impressed with Sean Maguire, who was the leader for the starting QB job out of spring. A graduate transfer of Golson’s stature isn’t choosing a school to sit on the bench. He’s going to play.
Now Fisher said he isn’t guaranteeing a starting job for Golson, which could be true, but behind closed doors, that could be a different story. If Golson is donning the garnet and gold this fall, it would be surprising if he doesn’t wind up being the starting QB.
For his career, Golson is 443-of-745 for 5,850 yards, 41 TDs with 20 interceptions.
