Florida State starter on Alabama's dominance: 'King of what hill?'

He's not buying the hype.

Florida State and Alabama are meeting up for what promises to be one of the best Week 1 games in college football history this year. There's been plenty of talk about respecting the opponent on both sides, but there's definitely one thing that starting Seminole running back Jacques Patrick isn't and that's afraid.

When asked about facing Alabama, Patrick responded "King of what hill?" in reference to the Crimson Tide's dominance ever since Saban took over just about a decade ago. He went on to elaborate about what exactly he meant and said that perceptions isn't always reality.

"Perception is more important than reality these days. That's the perception that they get. ...At the end of the day, I'm ready, I know our coach is going to have us prepared. We're going out there to play. We're going to be prepared, they have a great coach and are going to be prepared."

The two programs could be the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the country when the official preseason poll is dropped by the AP on Monday. It would mark the first time that the top two teams in the country meet each other in the first game of the season. Florida State has to replace star running back Dalvin Cook in their offense while the Crimson Tide have to replace several major offensive pieces like O.J. Howard and Ar'Darius Stewart.
