Florida State may be making moves in attempt to keep Jimbo Fisher

These could be important moves by Florida State.

Jimbo Fisher has been rumored for a couple of jobs, but it looks like Florida State is doing their best to keep their head coach.

First it was LSU last year, and now Texas A&M has become heavily involved in trying to pry Fisher away from the Seminoles, as A&M is reportedly parting ways with current head coach Kevin Sumlin next week. With those rumors flying, it appears Florida State is doing their due diligence to appease Fisher and prevent him from fleeing the program.

According to a report by the Orlando Sentinel, Florida State is making progress on a standalone football facility, which became an issue after Fisher made comments on Clemson's facilities two weeks ago. The same report also mentions that the school is looking to invest more in the salaries for Fisher's assistant coaches.

Facilities have become more and more important to programs in recent years, as schools hope to flaunt their commitment to football with these large investments. While Fisher recently mentioned Clemson's new athletic facility, the Tigers are far from the only ones to make that kind of investment; even Kansas has recently committed to pouring hundreds of millions into improvements dedicated purely to football.

With Fisher already being one of the highest-paid coaches in football, clearly it is going to take more than a simply salary increase to appease his interests at this point. If the Seminoles really do follow through with these investments, it could be the move needed to keep Fisher from trying to jump ship to another Power 5 school.
