Florida State President speaks out on Jimbo Fisher's tenure with the team

Oh boy.

Florida State is dealing yet again with rumors that coach Jimbo Fisher might be leaving the program. Last year, it was a potential move to LSU and now he could be headed to Texas A&M according to the latest rumors. However, in a Periscope with Tia Mitchell of the Florida Times-Union, FSU President John Thrasher quashed those rumors pretty quickly.

He said, "Jimbo's here forever." But he did leave the door open a bit with what he said next.

"You know, as long as he wants to be, he's good. He's as good as gold. He's going to be here."

So it sounds like Thrasher knows there's a possibility Fisher goes and that he's protecting the university in case he does. He certainly would like the narrative to look like FSU wanted him and was willing to keep him despite a down year that was marred by injuries and a lot of defensive letdowns.

The Seminoles are 3-6 on the season and have games against Delaware State, Florida and now Louisiana-Monroe still on the schedule with a chance to still get to a bowl game now.
