LB recruit decommits from Florida State with eyes on a separate conference power

Florida State was pretty sure it was going to land Seminole High School (Fla.) linebacker Demarco Artis. The three-star linebacker told The Orlando Sentinel that he was completely intent on signing with the Seminoles, but it looks like he no longer is part of the class.

247Sports reported late Tuesday night that Artis and FSU had "parted ways" and Artis confirmed it when asked by FSU's 247 reporter Chris Nee, saying, "Unfortunately, yes."

His commitment was already on thin ice after an official visit to Baylor and another scheduled for Oregon this coming weekend. The 6'3", 220-pound linebacker was only a small piece of the FSU recruiting puzzle. The Seminoles are still going after a couple other four-star linebackers in Levi Jones and Leonard Warner so they may actually get an upgrade in the end.
