NFL analyst compares Derwin James to two former first-round picks

That's quite the compliment.

Florida State safety Derwin James is probably going to become one of the best defensive players in the conference, and most likely the country, this upcoming season. He missed almost all of 2016 with a meniscus injury, but is primed for a breakout season where he leads the Seminole secondary into a season that will be the stuff of nightmares for opposing quarterbacks.

He's going to draw some comparisons to other great safeties out there, but Bucky Brooks of NFL.com is comparing him to two first-round picks from this year's NFL Draft. LSU's Jamal Adams and Alabama's Reuben Foster were the basis of the comparison and it's definitely one James is going to like. From NFL.com:

"This is going to be a crazy combination, but I'm going to take two prospects from this draft we just finished. He has a mix of Jamal Adams and Reuben Foster in his game," Brooks said during this week's Move The Sticks podcast. "He plays with a nasty streak and temperament, but he is an outstanding leader. He is one of my favorites."

James made 91 tackles and 4.5 sacks during his freshman season in 2015 and that was while he was playing next to a top ten pick in Jalen Ramsey. The 6'3" James should have another outstanding season and will surely put up even better numbers than what he did in his freshman campaign.
