Rumors swirling around FSU have potentially cost the team a four-star commit

A big loss for Florida State.

One of the top ranked recruits of the 2018 class has reopened his commitment.

On Wednesday, four-star cornerback Houston Griffith (6-foot-1, 192 pounds, Bradenton, Fla.) announced via Twitter that he had decommitted from Florida State.

Griffith committed to Florida State almost two months ago after a heated recruiting battle with Notre Dame, and now it looks like the Fighting Irish are right back in the mix for the four-star corner.

The decommit comes as Florida State is dealing with some strife, as rumors are swirling the program and head coach Jimbo Fisher. Fisher has been heavily rumored to be interested in the Texas A&M job, and many are believing that his relative silence on the issue — especially compared to last year with the LSU job — could be an indicator that Fisher wants out.

Griffith is ranked as the No. 9 cornerback in the nation by the 247Sports Composite. His decommit leaves Florida State with only 17 commitments in their 2018 class.
