Four-star quarterback Adrian Martinez has been committed to Tennessee since May, but he recently indicated he was interested in visiting USC.
Martinez, who’s from Fresno, California, told Rivals it “couldn’t hurt” for him to visit the Trojans, and he will continue to be interested the more he hears from the coaches.
Tennessee fans were worried about Martinez’s comments, but he addressed the issue on Twitter.
Martinez told SEC Country he isn’t planning to visit any other schools despite his comments about USC.
“I can assure you and everyone else, that I am 100% to Tennessee,” Martinez said. “I was there for Orange Carpet Day and I stay in constant contact with the coaches, as well as my family are all in.”
Martinez said he made a mistake by doing the interview, but it’s something he’s learned from and won’t repeat. He reaffirmed his commitment to Butch Jones and Tennessee, and he said he’s comfortable with be far away from home.
Martinez was originally committed to Cal. The 6’2, 198 pound QB is the No. 7 dual-threat quarterback for the Class of 2018 and the No. 17 player from the state of California according to 247Sports.
