Another college football head coaching gig is reportedly close to being filled

Silly season in full swing.

After storming onto the college football landscape this year with a surprise undefeated year from Western Michigan, P.J. Fleck will reportedly "soon be named Purdue's next football coach."

That differs from a later report, noting Fleck won't make a decision until after his team's dream season is complete.

Fleck's name has been rumored at LSU, Oregon and Baylor, and it's within reason that he should be listed among some of college football's bigger names.

After opening his campaign with Western Michigan at 1-11, Fleck rattled off consecutive 8-5 seasons before hitting his undefeated stride this year in hopes of shaking up the College Football Playoffs.

Prior reports listed Fleck, along with Les Miles as "focal points" of the Purdue head coaching search.

Purdue fired head coach Darrell Hazell after three-plus seasons. He went 9-33 and had never won back-to-back games in his tenure as head coach.
