Another powerhouse has reached out to transferring Notre Dame QB Malik Zaire

There is a new suitor for Malik Zaire.

Former Notre Dame quarterback Malik Zaire is the most talented player available on the transfer market at the position and, with that, there is a long line of suitors jockeying for position when it comes to landing his commitment. This week, another potential landing spot emerged for Zaire and, in short, it is a very interesting one.

That suitor is Tom Herman and the Texas Longhorns, as Mike Vorel of NDInsider.com caught up with Zaire on the subject:

"I have to talk to them. It's kind of weird, obviously, that situation. But they're all opportunities. They're all blessings. I'm really glad I can have them. Having the résumé I have, I know it's not the biggest. But for that to even be an opportunity is pretty cool."

According to the piece, Zaire's reference to the "weird" situation stems from the fact that he lit up the Longhorns to the tune of 300-plus yards in a dominant win back in 2015. Since then, however, things soured for Zaire in South Bend and Texas could have a need.

Former top prospect Shane Buechele is the incumbent starter in Austin but, with a new sheriff in town with Herman, nothing is assured and Texas would be crazy not to pursue Zaire if he is willing to listen. Until he picks a destination officially, there will be plenty of speculation surrounding the former Notre Dame quarterback but he is good enough to justify the buzz.
