Tatum, who's from Oklahoma City, told Rivals he chose the Longhorns because of their defense and Tom Herman's coaching staff.

"I chose Texas because of their defense and the coaches were great when I went down there," Tatum said. "They answered all my questions without me even asking. They guaranteed me the chance to play in the NFL."

Tatum's final five schools were Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, TCU and Georgia.

Tatum hadn't visited Texas since February, and Oklahoma was considered the favorite to sign him.

Tatum is the No. 5 strong-side defensive end for the Class of 2018, according to 247Sports. He is the No. 4 player from the state of Oklahoma.
