2018's top QB Emory Jones hints at why he might flip from Ohio State

That bodes well for

Current Ohio State commit Emory Jones is the top dual-threat QB in the class of 2018 according to 247Sports. He's given his verbal commitment to the Buckeyes, but in a recent interview with 247, he said that Florida has not stopped recruiting and it sounds like the Gators have been making a good impression.

"I'm talking to Coach [Doug] Nussmeier and Coach [Jim] McElwain all the time," Jones told 247Sports. "They've just been saying they want me to get back up there. I've been there only one time, that's when I got my offer. I haven't been back up there since. They just saying they want me to get back up there. I'm going to take my official there too."

The 6'2", 193-pound QB also has offers from Georgia, Clemson, Miami, UNC and Tennessee among others. He's crystal balled to sign with the Buckeyes at 91 percent and he's being given a nine percent chance to become a Volunteer. Jones hails from Franklin, Ga. so a trip to Knoxville isn't all that far.

However, he hinted that him flipping to Florida might be the key for the Gators getting over the SEC Championship Game hump.

"They always seem to get into the SEC Championship, so that's always good. I see their depth in the quarterback position right now is not that great, and they still seem to get into the SEC Championship, so that means they have players outside. So, that's pretty good."

While that is kind of a shot at the quarterback situation, it could also prove to be the sticking point for Jones to make his commitment to the Gators.
