Kirk Herbstreit believes one 10-win team could be "even better" next season

VERY high praise from Herbstreit.

Improving from a 10-win team is difficult to do, but it looks like Kirk Herbstreit thinks one team is capable of it next season.

After their win over Washington State in the Holiday Bowl, Herbstreit proclaimed that the now 10-win Michigan State Spartans could be "even better" in the 2018 season.

The 10 wins for Michigan State were a big deal, as it looked like the program was falling apart in 2016 with a 3-9 season and several players wrapped up in sexual assault allegations. However, head coach Mark Dantonio was able to right the ship and it looks like the future is very bright with star running back LJ Scott returning for next season.

As for Michigan State, there are really only two steps above where they are now as a 10-win team: one would be winning the Big Ten Championship, and the other would be making it back into the College Football Playoff. Michigan State made the 2015 version of the Playoff, where they were embarrassed 38-0 by Alabama in the Cotton Bowl.

Scott, as a freshman, was the leading rusher on that 2015 team, and you know he would love to get some redemption for that loss and for the three-win season in 2016. According to Herbstreit, Scott and the Spartans will have a shot to do just that next year.
