Ohio State set to lose yet another assistant in the coaching carousel

Ohio State is bleeding coaching talent.

Ohio State is losing almost all of its coaching talent this year it seems. That is, everyone outside of Urban Meyer of course. The Buckeyes lost Tom Herman a couple years ago and are losing Luke Fickell this year since he just signed a deal with Cincinnati to become the new Bearcats coach.

With Fickell taking the job, he wants to bring a familiar face with him there and it looks like cornerback coach/special teams coach Kerry Coombs is going to join him and go back to some familiar roots according to George Vogel who works at a local Cincinnati station.

Coombs was there from 2007 to 2011, also with the title of associate head coach. Ohio State might not be done losing coordinators though as Greg Schiano has been making the rounds as a potential head coaching option for some schools. Coombs most notably mentored Bradley Roby and Eli Apple during his time on Columbus.
