College DB dismissed after being shot over the weekend

After being involved in a shooting during a road rage incident on Saturday, South Florida defensive back Hassan Childs has been dismissed from the team entire, per head coach Charlie Strong.

Childs allegedly pulled a gun on a man, his wife, and their three-year old child on Saturday in what was called an incident of road rage. Childs was then shot three times according to the Tampa Bay Times as the man reportedly pulled his own gun in self defense. Both Childs and the other party — 26-year old Jovanni Jimenez — have concealed carry permits in the state of Florida.

Per the Times, Childs was release from the hospital on Monday, and was later arrested for three counts of aggravated assault and a count of marijuana possession.

Childs played in 20 games for the USF Bulls since 2013, with 28 tackles and three interceptions.
