College football player has been removed from team activities after disturbing charges and arrest

This is just awful.

Charlie Strong is dealing with serious turmoil before his USF Bulls have even played their first game as junior defensive end LaDarrius Jackson has been arrested on charges of sexual battery and false imprisonment according to The Tampa Bay Times. It has prompted the coach to take quick and decisive action with this announcement:

Jackson was arrested around 10:30 p.m. on Monday at the USF police station. He was detained at Tampa International Airport where he had a flight scheduled to go home since the semester had just finished.

From the Tampa Bay Times:

"According to an arrest report filed by USF police, Jackson forced a woman to perform sex Monday afternoon despite her verbal and physical efforts to resist him. He forced her into her room after she placed her hands on a wall in an attempt to stop him, pushed her onto the bed and straddled her, the report says."

The report also says that the victim told investigators she did not leave the room because she feared the 6'4", 243-pound Jackson would try to stop her.

According to news releases given out Tuesday morning, the incident occurred at a residential hall and "no physical injuries were reported to police." Those same releases say that the victim and the suspect were "known acquaintances" as well. USF police say they responded to a report at about 3 p.m. from an apartment building about a sexual battery that occurred half an hour earlier. One of the releases also stated that the victim immediately reported the incident to university housing staff, who helped her to contact the police.

Jackson appeared in seven games last year for the Bulls recording three total tackles.
