Months after decommitting from Alabama, 4-star RB Dameon Pierce has found his new home

This is a big get.

Dameon Pierce was committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide for nearly a calendar year but, since backing off that pledge in May, there has been a great deal of focus on his next destination. Pierce spoke to 247Sports earlier in the process and indicated that three schools — Florida, Auburn and LSU — were in the lead for his new commitment.

"For the most part the teams recruiting me the hardest have been Florida, Auburn, and LSU. Pretty much those are the schools that talk with me every day. They don't talk about football a lot anymore, it's more about getting on a personal level, which I really like."

Now, Pierce has declared that one of those programs won the (very) interesting battle for his services and that team is the Florida Gators.

The 5'11, 205-pound running back from Bainbridge (Ga.) ranks as the No. 9 running back in the country and as a top 200 prospect nationally according to the 247Sports composite. Part of his recruiting process included two trips to Gainesville in July and, in the end, it appears that those journeys made a big impact on his search.

Pierce may not be a five-star prospect according to the recruiting services but his skill set is impressive and the level of interest from the nation's top programs says a lot.
