School reportedly fires its coach after five years and only six "real" wins

That is not good.

While Davidson is not a premiere Division-I school, it is in the FCS sub-division. However, it's been playing like a school much worse than that in the five years Paul Nichols has been there and so the school is reportedly firing him after an abysmal record that includes a win that's not really a win.

Football Scoop had the initial report of Davidson letting Nichols go. This comes after a third consecutive 2-9 finish, which is the most wins Nichols and the team have had over his tenure. His first year they went winless and then only won a single game in his second season. There clearly wasn't enough improvement year over year so now the school will have to find someone else to replace Nichols and hopefully win more than two games in a given season.
