Despite Oklahoma commitment, one top QB is publicly seeking another school’s offer

Oklahoma fans won't like this.

Cameron Rising has been committed to play for Bob Stoops and the Oklahoma Sooners since Aug. 7, 2016. However, the young quarterback prospect made a comment that Oklahoma fans definitely won't love and it has to do with wanting a scholarship offer from another school.

In speaking with Ryan Bartow of 247Sports, the 2018 quarterback publicly stated that he wanted an offer from the Florida Gators and he expressed his desire this way:

"The caliber of athletes that go to Florida from south Florida, just because they play great football, and it's a great program. They just need a quarterback that can come in and put them over the top."

Rising, who stands at 6'3 and 195 pounds, currently rates as the No. 5 overall quarterback in the 2018 class according to the 247Sports composite and that also leads him to a top-100 overall ranking. With that in mind, he is a big part of Oklahoma's 2018 group of prospects and comments like this have to make the Sooners' staff a little bit less certain that Rising will be a part of their incoming class when February rolls around.

Florida would be wise to jump in at this point, though it is unclear if they will. Regardless, there will be some nervousness generated in Norman as a result of this statement.
