Early over/under odds set two teams at the top of college football for 2017

Quite interesting.

The 2017 college football season is approaching and, while its arrival may be slower than fans, coaches and student-athletes want, it is on the way in short order. In advance of the season, one of the most entertaining exercises is breaking teams down by the way Las Vegas evaluates them and the good folks at CG Technology have done just that.

On Thursday, the sportsbook released its over/under win totals for almost 50 college football teams (via ESPN Chalk) and the end result was that Alabama (10.5 wins) and Ohio State (10 wins) stood atop the field. That should come as no surprise given the fact that the Crimson Tide and Buckeyes are almost universally seen as the top two programs nationally, but considering Clemson is the reigning title winner, it is noteworthy that they are not at the (very) top of the list.

Below Alabama and Ohio State, there is a six-pack of teams at the 9.5-win mark and that group includes (in alphabetical order) Florida State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Washington, Wisconsin and USC. The best of the best can be seen below, but in short, these should provide enough information to spark some off-season debate and generate a ton of monetary attention.

Alabama 10.5
Ohio State 10
Oklahoma 9.5
Florida State 9.5
Penn State 9.5
Wisconsin 9.5
USC 9.5
Washington 9.5
Clemson 9
Oklahoma State 9
Virginia Tech 9
Louisville 9
LSU 9
Michigan 9
