ESPN's FPI has one team closing in on No. 1 Alabama

Uh oh...

One team narrowed the deficit between them and No. 1 Alabama in ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI). And it might not be the one you think.

After Week 11 of action, Ohio State has closed the lead on Alabama for the No. 1 spot in the ESPN FPI.

Ohio State had fallen a bit in the metric last week after their 31-point loss to Iowa, but they were able to maintain their No. 2 spot in the ranking. After a 45-point blowout of Michigan State on Saturday, the Buckeyes have only closed the lead to just a couple of points, and they could conceivably pass the Crimson Tide in the metric at some point even with the two losses on the season.

Also interesting in the rankings? Two-loss teams like Penn State and Washington are still ahead of Oklahoma and Georgia. An interesting calculation from the FPI, especially this late in the season with so many data points.

The full FPI can be seen here.
