Former college football player has passed away at the young age of 35

He is a former college offensive lineman.

Former UCF football player and police deputy Norman Lewis was killed in a crash while searching for a murder suspect Monday, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

A van reportedly crashed into Lewis' motorcycle, per Police One.

Lewis was an offensive lineman from 2000 to 2003 before he graduated with a criminal justice degree in 2004.

During his time at UCF, Lewis reportedly suffered a "catastrophic" knee injury in 2002, tearing three ligaments and wondering if he'd ever walk again. Doctors reportedly told him he could never play football again, but the offensive lineman would take the field and play during the 2003 season.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
