Former Louisville commit Davontae McCrae admits one new team sticks out

Davontae McCrae might be leaning in one particular direction after decommitting from Louisville.

2018 defensive tackle Davontae McCrae was committed to Louisville for approximately six months. However, the 6'5, 255-pound prospect from Miami Northwestern backed off of that pledge in early February and, as you might expect, he is surveying his options.

With that as the backdrop, McCrae recently spoke with Ryan Bartow of 247Sports and he shed a bit of light on what to expect from the rest of the recruiting process. In fact, the talented prospect indicated that it was the coaching staff of the UCF Golden Knights that makes that program pop when compared to the rest.

"I like how the coaches feel how I could fit in their scheme. I like how their coaches are consistent."

It should be noted that the report indicates both NC State and Southern Miss have greatly impressed McCrae, but it does not feel like an accident that he referenced UCF in such glowing terms. Scott Frost and his staff would be wise to pursue McCrae aggressively in the coming weeks but, if nothing else, the Golden Knights have a strong head start on the rest of the field when it comes to luring this potentially dynamic prospect to their program for the next four years.
