One month after he was hired to take over as a high school football coach, former Ole Miss offensive lineman/tight end Justin Sawyer passed away Saturday morning, per The Daily Leader.
Sawyer reportedly had a massive heart attack and died in his sleep. He leaves behind a wife and two young daughters.
Sawyer was defensive coordinator at a separate school before taking over the program at West Lincoln high school.
Sawyer played for Ole Miss from 1999-2003. He started eight games in 2003 and played in all 13 games with quarterback Eli Manning.
Our thoughts go out to his family at this time.
