Gus Johnson was criticized after Penn State’s big win over some pretty controversial statements involving the school

Talk about a poor choice of words

In the closing seconds of Penn State's thrilling 38-31 win over Wisconsin in the Big 10 Championship Game, Fox play-by-play man Gus Johnson made some controversial remarks about the Nittany Lions.

The comments came after he mentioned the Jerry Sandusky scandal, and Johnson claimed this win was a "milestone in the healing process."

Johnson's comments were heavily criticized on social media, and deservedly so.

Johnson likely meant no harm, but they still should've been avoided. The victims, their families and Penn State as a university might not ever fully recover from that scandal. A conference championship is a great thing for the school, but it doesn't fix anything that happened when Sandusky was on campus.
