Kirby Smart updates status on injured RB Nick Chubb

Georgia plays Tennessee next week.

Georgia running back Nick Chubb left the first half of Georgia's 45-14 loss to Ole Miss on Saturday with what was described as an ankle injury. After the game, head coach Kirby Smart updated Chubb's status, stating that the running back suffered a sprained ankle.

"Don't know the severity yet. He couldn't come back in the game," said Smart. "If he could have come back, I know he wanted to. So we'll see how that goes the next couple days."

Chubb missed most of the 2015 season after a devastating knee injury suffered against Tennessee. Chubb was great in his return against North Carolina, rushing for 222 yards, but he hasn't quite been the same since thanks to poor offensive line play.

This injury obviously won't help matters for Georgia, but it appears that it isn't too significant and that Chubb will be able to return to play soon.

Georgia will play Tennessee next week in a return to Sanford Stadium.
