Kirk Herbstreit comments on if any conference will put two teams into this year's Playoff

This makes a lot of sense.

Alabama and Georgia are both currently ranked in the Top 4 of both major polls. Ohio State and Penn State are currently similar position to last year, with Wisconsin slyly hanging out in the Big Ten West. Even TCU and Oklahoma State in the Big 12 could make things interesting.

As for actually getting two teams from one conference into the College Football Playoff, though? ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit still isn't on board, although he does recognize the talent that is out there that could make it a possibility.

From ESPN, via 247Sports:

"I'm all about the best four. I don't care what conference you're in at all," Herbstreit said. "I hope the committee does the right thing. To me, if Bama and UGA (are the best) when the dust settles, I just can't watch the committee not give them a chance. And ff they feel Georgia is one of the top four teams after watching the (SEC Championship) game, so be it, put it in there.

"I just find it hard to imagine them keeping two power 5 conference champions out. If it happens, I'll applaud, but I can't see it happening."

Herbstreit makes a fair point. As good as a team like Georgia or whoever may look, it's going to be hard to leave out a true conference champion if they have one loss or less in preference for a team that didn't win their conference. Or as last year proved, even winning your conference may not always be enough. (Sorry, Penn State fans)
