Darkhorse title contender picks up commitment from huge four-star and 6'6" OT Matteo Mele

This is a bit of a shocker.

Washington picked up its first commitment from an offensive lineman in the 2018 class when Arizona native Matteo Mele decided to pick the Huskies over in-state offers from Arizona and Arizona State. He took to his Twitter to make the announcement:

He thanked his parents, family, friends and coaches and then went on to say this in the tweet:

"With all this being said I am extremely excited to announce that I am shutting down my recruitment and am 100% committed to the University of Washington to further my football career and education!"

The 6'6", 260-pound converted tight end plays for Salpointe Catholic High School in Tucson and had offers from Arizona, Colorado, California, Hawaii, Louisville and Oklahoma among others. Scout has him ranked as the No. 22 OT in the country and the top OT in the state of Arizona.
