Michigan reportedly looking to cancel home-home series with playoff contender

Are the rumors true?

Michigan has a home-and-home series scheduled with Washington and Virginia Tech in 2020 and 2021, but there is speculation the Wolverines are attempting to back out of one of those series.

While it should be noted that this is just Internet speculation, it appears as if Michigan is trying to cancel the two games against Washington.

The rumors have surfaced on Reddit and Twitter that since the Wolverines are scheduled to play both Power 5 schools in those seasons, they are trying to back out of one of them.

Michigan is scheduled to play at Washington in 2020, and the Huskies are scheduled to make the return trip to Ann Arbor in 2021.

Virginia Tech is scheduled to visit Michigan in 2020, and the Wolverines are scheduled to play in Blacksburg in 2021.

It's rare to see a national title contender play two games against marquee opponents in the non conference schedule, so it makes sense that Michigan is trying to cancel one.

The cancellation isn't official, but it's certainly possible Michigan will cancel one of those series in the future.
