New Oregon coach Willie Taggart just destroyed his own players with one comment

Wow, this is very telling about the players.

New Oregon head football coach Willie Taggart is on a mission to turn the program around after an abysmal 4-8 season in 2016. So far, it looks like that mission is turning more into a warpath for Taggart.

Already facing heat for some January workouts that hospitalized three players, Taggart's recent remarks in a FOX Sports interview really hammered home the point about the state of the program before he arrived.

"I think a lot of the young men that were here, they came here for the uniforms, not to be a great football player."

Yikes!

Despite being the hallmark of the Nike brand in college football, Oregon has faltered a bit over the past two years after their title game loss to Ohio State. Despite the success over the past decade, recruiting has faltered, and it looks like Taggart is trying to get the program back on track as a football team and not just a merchandising super-school.
