Newest recruiting rankings have top SEC target as its No. 1 player

This shouldn't surprise anyone with the hype he's been receiving.

Trevor Lawrence you might recognize and if it isn't you'll know it fairly soon. He just became the top player in Scout.com's recruit rankings for the class of 2018. The 6'6", 196-pound pro-style quarterback is being labeled as the next great quarterback not only in college, but at the next level too.

Here is Scout's description of the rising junior and what he can bring to a team:

"The five star is Scout's No. 1 prospect for the 2018 class and he has it all — both on and off the field.  As a passer, he has great size, he can make every throw, he spins it with the best of them, and he is very smart on the field.  Off the field, Lawrence is humble, he is self-driven, he puts in the work needed to be the best, and he knows how to handle the spotlight."

That's a lot of praise for a kid who's going to turn 17 this school year, but just looking at his stats it's hard to disagree.

After just two high school seasons at Cartersville High School in Georgia, Lawrence has thrown for 6,697 yards and 69 touchdowns with only 11 interceptions.  He led his team to a 15-0 state championship season in 2015. He started as a freshman too, and Cartersville finished 13-1.

Clemson, Georgia and Tennessee look to have the best chance with Lawrence currently and he is already looking to graduate early and get on the campus of the school he chooses in January 2018. He clearly wants to show maturity and leadership from the get-go wherever he ends up going to school.
