One FSU pledge has officially flipped and signed with a new school

Well this was unexpected!

Looks like we have a late flip for the 2017 recruiting class.

Three-star receiver Chauncy Smart (5-foot-8, 160 pounds, Auburndale, Fla.) was going to run track at Florida State, in addition to taking a preferred walk-on spot with the football team. However, Smart gained a release from his Florida State obligations, and he has now signed on to play football at South Florida.

As a track athlete, Smart can bring a lot of speed to South Florida at a plethora of positions, but he will have to put on some size in order to become an impact player at the AAC level. It might take some time, but anyone that fast can become a real weapon if utilized correctly, and it looks like head coach Charlie Strong pitched something to make Smart a believer.

Smart is now the 19th member of South Florida's 2017 recruiting class.
