Chris Petersen and the Washington Huskies already have an impact prospect ready to enter the fold in the form of five-star 2018 QB commit Jacob Sirmon. With that and an ever-evolving class developing around him as the backdrop, the Huskies picked up yet another high-end prospect this week when top-100 QB Colson Yankoff also committed to spend his college career at Washington.
Barton Simmons of 247Sports brings a scouting report for the rising senior signal-caller:
"This is one of the best quarterbacks in the 2018 class and his ceiling is as high as any in the country. You look at his size at nearly 6-4, his athleticism with a 4.7 40 and a 39-inch vertical, and his production on the high school level, which has been outstanding. Then you take all of those things and you consider that this is a kid that can't throw year round due to the weather in Idaho. He's a multi-sport athlete that just finished his basketball season. He's a competitor and a winner. Combine all that and you realize that this kid is only scratching the surface on his development. He's a great fit for Chris Petersen and Washington, not only as a player but also as a person."
Yankoff ranks as the No. 85 overall player and No. 4 quarterback in the 2018 class according to 247Sports and Washington's recruiting prowess is a developing national story. The Huskies reportedly beat other programs like Nebraska, Ole Miss and Oregon for Yankoff's pledge and it really speaks to the upward trajectory for the program under Petersen.
There will be plenty of time to dissect what the future of the quarterback position holds at Washington but the cupboard will be full of talent for the future.
