Pac-12 head coach could suddenly be fired after poor finish to season

This comes seemingly out of nowhere.

Arizona head coach Rich Rodriguez could be fired, according to a USA Today report.

According to the report, the firing could come after the Wildcats lost four of their last five games and would trigger his $6.3 million buyout. Rodriguez is under contract with Arizona through 2020.

Additionally, an outside law firm investigated Rodriguez for workplace misconduct and no misconduct was determined last fall. The former administrative assistant has threatened to file a lawsuit.

The 54-year-old head coach just finished his sixth season at Arizona.

Rodriguez coached seven seasons at West Virginia, rattling off double-digit wins in each of his last three years with the Mountaineers. He'd spend the next three tumultuous seasons at Michigan before landing the Wildcats job in 2012.
