Power 5 football player thrown out of school after he's charged with chasing down, beating two students

He's free on bond, but still in trouble

A former TCU football player is "no longer a student at the university" after police say he assaulted two students on campus.

Tipa Galeai, 20, has been charged with assault causing bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor, according to Tarrant County court records and as reported by the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram.

The suspect stands accused of chasing two students in a campus down and punching one in the face and body 21 times, according to an arrest warrant affidavit the newspaper quoted.

Police say the two students noticed Galeai appeared to be intoxicated and made a remark the former football player heard. It's at that point Galeai chased down the men, the affidavit said.

The incident happened in January but came to light today.

Galeai, a 6-foot-5, 235 defensive end played 10 games for the Horned Frogs last season. He's free on $5,000 bond.

In a statement Friday, TCU said Galeai was no longer a student at the university, and added: "Texas Christian University expects its students to behave in an ethical manner, abide by campus policies and adhere to state and federal law.
