FOX Sports analyst says Alabama 'is not a great team right now'

Wait, what?

The Alabama Crimson Tide are not currently ranked as the No. 1 team in college football, at least according to the one voting body that actually matters. Still, it is no secret that Nick Saban's team is seen by many as the best team in the country and that extends to the "experts" in Las Vegas and elsewhere.

It should be noted, though, that the reasoning behind Alabama falling short of the No. 1 spot to this point has everything to do with the team's schedule and Jason McIntyre of FOX Sports took things a bit further on Friday. In short, McIntyre doesn't believe Alabama is a great team and he isn't seeing the dominance that others see.

The schedule argument holds up, even if Alabama can't be blamed for that in a year in which Florida State started the year at No. 2 or No. 3 in the country before falling off the face of the planet. In the same breath, McIntyre citing lack of dominance is tough to swallow in some ways because the Crimson Tide have just one single-digit win all season and even that victory over Texas A&M never seemed in doubt at any point.

Of course, none of this matters as Alabama simply needs to take care of business in order to reach the College Football Playoff. This particular commentary may not sit well, though, and bulletin board material for Saban's team is never ideal for its opponents.
