Every year Nick Saban and his coaching staff not only recruit monsters, but develop them too. This year is a prime example of that as freshman linebacker Dylan Moses came in already chiseled and powerful at 6’3″ and 235 pounds. He went through spring tests and came out the other end looking even better than when he went in.
While he has only been on campus for two months, he might have tested the best out of anyone. Just take a look at these numbers:
- He ran a 4.46 second 40-yard dash
- That’s faster than all but two of Alabama’s receivers
- Bench pressed 405 pounds
- Squatted 500 pounds
- Power clean of 335 pounds
- Top among linebackers
Moses wasn’t the only defender impressing folks either as rising junior Da’Ron Payne came in at 6’2″ and 310 pounds while registering these numbers:
- 5.03 seconds in the 40-yard dash
- Bench pressed 545 pounds
- Squatted 635 pounds
- Power cleaned 365 pounds (team-best)
Payne had 1.5 sacks, 3.5 tackles for loss and 36 total tackles last season playing nose guard. Those numbers could be even better this season if his pure power and speed translate to the field alongside Moses’ unbelievable testing numbers.
