Alabama assistant coach Mike Locksley had to go through a parent's worst nightmare a few months ago when his son, Meiko Locksley, was shot and killed.
That fact in itself is terrible and heartbreaking enough, but new reports coming out of the Baltimore area suggest that whoever shot and killed the former New Mexico walk-on is still at large.
CBS Baltimore is reporting that police are at this point offering up to $10,000 as a reward to anyone who can provide information on the situation that led to Locksley's death, which happened on the 5500 block of Harpers Farm Road September 3 — apparently minutes away from where he worked.

Locksley used to play football for the University of New Mexico, and then Lackawanna College in Pennsylvania. He was working at a Subway store just minutes away from where he was killed.
Police suspect the motive in the incident may have been a drug-related robbery. Although detectives have not identified a suspect, they believe the case likely was not random.
The younger Locksley was a walk-on at New Mexico during the 2011 season, which was the final year of Mike Locksley's head coaching stint with the Lobos. Meiko was released from the program soon after his father after running into off-field issues.
Locksley went on to be a head coach again as the interim head coach at Maryland after the firing of Randy Edsall, and he joined Alabama as an offensive analyst in 2016. He now serves as the Tide's co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach.
