Watch an emotional Nick Saban describe the Iron Bowl moment that almost made him cry

Something about Nick Saban that seems to come up every year is his love for the walk-on. Saban has often talked about that 'special place in his heart' for the guys on his team that are unheralded, that come to practice and work hard everyday even if no one will ever know their name. Last year it was the story former walk-on Michael Nysewander scoring a touchdown. This year it was walk-on Lawrence Erekosima that provide the feels for Nick Saban and Tide fans everywhere.

Erekosima is a senior walk-on running back for Alabama that was honored along with the rest of the Seniors on the field for senior day before the Tide faced off against Auburn Saturday. What you need to know about Erekosima is that his mother is an active duty member of the U.S. Army who has served three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

What Saban and the Alabama knew but Erekosima did not was that the Army allowed his mother to come home from her latest assignment early so that she could be in attendance for Senior Day.

Saban became emotional in his postgame press conference when discussing the wonderful moment for Lawrence.

Alabama would defeat Auburn 30-12 Saturday in the 81st Iron Bowl.
