Former SEC coach says his old squad is better this year than when they last won a national title

Is he serious?

Just about everyone expects Alabama to win the SEC West again this year, but everyone also expects Auburn to be much improved with the addition of quarterback Jarrett Stidham. There are even some people predicting that the Tigers could take out Alabama in the Iron Bowl. However, former Auburn coach Pat Dye thinks this might be the best Auburn team he's ever seen.

His quote from the video:

"I think this is the most talented football team I've seen at Auburn, top to bottom. They're a little thin in the secondary. A little inexperienced at wide receiver. We got to settle on who is on the offensive line. They have a tremendous upside. It depends on how bad they want it. (It depends) how good they want to be. If they want to be a great offensive line, they can be one.

That sounds like a lot of potential weaknesses for a team that's supposed to be the best he's seen at the school. Dye must not have been awake during that 2010 season with Cam Newton leading the charge. That was a pretty great team and one that went undefeated and beat the Oregon Ducks 22-19 in the BCS National Championship Game.

Auburn went 8-5 overall and 5-3 in the conference last season. This year should see a double-digit number in the win column, but the Tigers do have to compete in the tough SEC West as well as face Clemson and Georgia this season.
