Florida names their starting quarterback for Michigan game

WOW.

Despite landing Malik Zaire as a grad transfer, Florida is rolling with freshman Feleipe Franks as their starting quarterback for the season-opener against Michigan.

The Gators have good-to-great running backs and receivers, but they have not had a good quarterback to sling it around to them. That's why the battle between Notre Dame transfer Malik Zaire and Franks has been one that people are keeping an eye on.

If the Gators are going purely off ceiling and potential then Franks is the guy. Franks was the clear-cut leader at the end of spring because of his play in the spring game as well as what he did in camp up to that point.

You don't generally bring in a grad transfer as high-profile as Zaire to not start him, but it looks like head coach Jim McElwain thinks Franks is his guy and the future for Florida.. Only time will tell as the Gators will face Michigan on Saturday.
